Alfred Pennyworth is the trusted butler to Batman in just about every media form. He is the one person that bruce can go to to confide his feelings.

Alfred has served the Wayne family even before the death of Bruce's Family and helped raise Bruce after their death. He is full of wisdom and guidance even after Bruce has grown up and is one of the few people who know his secret identity.

The trusted butler helps batman when sick, injured and just plain mentally disturbed and therefore has been put in the supporting characters role as well has hero.

Batman or Bruce Wayne was the son of a very wealthy Thomas Wayne and it wasn't until one horrific night after a cinema that the young waynes path in life would be set into a new direction.. On their way home from the theater, Batmans family took a wrong turn and ended up in what was known as crime alley, one of the worst areas in Gotham. This is where batmans life would suddenly change directions. Joe Chill was a lowly thief at the time who found the Wayne family lost in crime alley and took advantage of the situation.

Catwoman is one of the best know criminals in the Batman Series. She was not completely bad and her intentions at some point were good but, she typically has a bad approach to fighting crime. She is in both good and villain categories.
